G-XMII, EC135 Eurocopter based at RAF Woodvale.

 


Merseyside Police Helicopter is a Eurocopter EC135 T1 powered by 2 Turbomeca Arrius turbine engines.
Fitted with digitally recorded thermal CCTV with microwave downlink and Euronav mapping system which can jump from wide area OS style maps to street mapping giving house numbers & location. Also it is equipped with a Tracker receiver system for stolen vehicles and a Radar Altimeter which will enable the pilot to know his height above buildings as well as from the ground.

Above left showing the front control panel, furthest left is the camera monitor screen and above that is the Tracker display, centrally there are 3 smaller screens which are for aircraft info, fuel, temp engine systems etc. and further left a normal selection of instruments, altimeter, speed, level indicator etc.
Above right shows the rear area where the second police observer sits with the Euronav system at hand.

 


Above left shows the rear access used for stretchers when airlifting medical patients. Above right shows the side door open and the interior.
