Greater Manchester Police Air Support Unit
G-GMPB, Britten Norman Islander based at Manchester International Airport

 

GMP's plane is a Britten Norman BN2 Islander powered by Two Rolls Royce turbine engines and can stay airborne for over 5 hours.
It carries a thermal imaging camera with a live video downlink and capable of sending images to the force helicopter while in flight.

The plane is used for proactive and pre planned operations allowing the helicopter to be fast response reactive unit.
